A Mother's Day Gift Guide for the Modern Momma

While this Mother’s Day might look different than previous ones, I’m still looking forward to making new memories with my sweet family, especially now that baby Luca is here. Due to the shelter-in-place orders around the country, our family has been spending so much time together which has been amazing but also a bit overwhelming. I miss going out to grab a coffee with a girlfriend or getting to shop by myself while the kiddos are in school. Those little breaks in the day refreshed + restored me so this year for Mother’s Day I’m giving myself the gift of a little r&r: a long, uninterrupted bath, curbside pick-up from one of our favorite local spots, and if I can maybe even a nap - by myself!

I know quarantining with kids has taken a toll on many of the sweet mommas in our community, so this year I wanted to focus on self-care centered gifts that are perfect for any mother in your life. I’ve included items from a wide variety of price points and are guaranteed to bring a smile to every sister, Mother-in-Law, or caregiver on your list this year.

I want y’all to know that this community has and continues to be one of the greatest gifts in my life. From your sweet messages to your supportive comments, knowing that we’re all getting through motherhood together has given my strength on some of my most difficult days. I want you to know that even if we’ve never met or spoken, I see you, I appreciate you, and I am here for you. Stay strong, momma, you got this.

Whether you’re shopping for yourself or another momma in your life, Mother’s Day can be tricky. I love finding unique gifts that are functional, too. I’ve been dropping some serious hints around our house (are you reading this, JD?) and I wanted to share my favorite finds for Mother’s Day with you.

What to get for the Momma Who Has Everything

If you’re not sure what to buy for the mom’s in your life, I feel like the gesture is much more important than the gift itself. Flowers and a card might not cost much, but the effort will go a long way. Some of my favorite low cost gift ideas include:

  • Fresh flowers

  • Breakfast in bed

  • Sleeping in while dad or partner watches the kids

  • Taking a nap while dad or partner watches the kids

  • Any amount of alone time while dad or partner watches the kids (I think I’m sensing a theme here…)

  • A day off from household chores or duties

  • A handmade craft from the kids - these are especially great for grandparents!

Picking the Perfect Gift

Just remember, it’s like your mom always said, “it’s the thought that counts!”. So spoil the mom’s in your life with love + time, not just gifts. However, when it comes to the gift part, I have you covered! You can order all of these items online, so you can ship them exactly where they need to go, no trip to the post office required!

One // M is for Mama Shirt // Cheerily // I have matching shirts for Isla and Brody and I love that all three of us can wear them! The shirts is completely customizable, so you can include whatever text you like.

Two // RoboVac // Amazon // I am dying to get my hands on this vacuum! Nothing would make my heart happier than a gadget that cleans for me.

Three // The Motherhood Candle // The Barn at Post Oak // This candle smells amazing and the larger size has a burn time of 100 hours!

Four // Detox Dry Shampoo// Drybar // Anyone else basically living off of dry shampoo? I love that this option from Drybar is clear so it won't show once it's in your hair. Serious win!

Five // Bamboo Bathroom Tray // Etsy // My bathtub is my sacred place and this tray takes it to the next level. You can balance a book or tablet and there's a place for your tea (or wine). The top also folds down for easy storage. Love!

Six // Mama and Me Hair Bows // L&L Handmade // There are two options for these bows - one is like a headband and the other is like a scarf, but both are too cute.

Seven // Shaylee Convertible Bag // Lily Jade // I am in love with this convertible bag from Lily Jade and all of the storage options it has! I'm going to be using this as my doula bag and I think it's going to be a lifesaver for organization.

Eight // Down to Mask Facial Mask Kit // Patchology // I recently discovered Patchology's products and I am loving them! This little kit include six different treatments and comes in a cute travel bag.

Nine // Scalloped Canopy Patio Umbrella // Target // I want to turn our back patio into a little oasis this summer and I figured a good umbrella was a necessity! I love the scallop edge and color and it's a great price for an umbrella of this size.

Ten // Trunk Luggage // Amazon // After snagging some trunk luggage for Brody + Isla this past Christmas I've been on the hunt for a piece for myself. I love the blush color and it seems so sturdy!

Eleven // Drink More Water Bottle // Uncommon Goods // I'm trying to be better about drinking more water and I love the cute time reminders on this one. Keeping up with your water intake is great for breastfeeding, too!

Twelve // Gold Flower + Rose Quartz Earrings // Hannah Matthew Designs // Our contributor Hannah just launched her jewelry line and it is gorgeous! I love these rose quartz earrings, perfect for spring!

Thirteen // Round Jute Beach Bag // H&M // I love the size and shape of this bag and it's a perfect tote for summer. I think it could also double as a diaper bag for the day!
