My Favorite Arts + Crafts Supplies for Kids
With both of the big kiddos home right now we are on a bit of an arts+ crafts kick. I’ve been testing some fantastic activities (along with a few Pinterest failures) over on Instagram and it’s been so fun to see what the kids can create when you let them dive headfirst into your art supplies.
Typically when I’m stocking up for summer or an extended break, I’ll grab craft supplies from Michael’s Craft Stores or the Target dollar spot. However, when I can’t make it out to the store or if I need to replenish my supply without leaving the house, I turn to some of my favorite online spots for craft kits and ideas and will order additional supplies from Amazon to stock up.
Building Your Craft Stash
The great thing about kids - especially the younger ones - is that they really don’t need expensive materials or tools for crafting. Really most of what they need can be found at a grocery store if you’re really in a pinch! Your basic craft stock includes:
White paper
Colored paper
Markers
Crayons
Kid-safe scissors
Glue
After you’ve secured the basics you can add on the additional items that make craft projects feel more “crafty” like:
Patterned tape
Felt pieces
Googly eyes
Foam shapes
Stickers
Stamps + ink
Ribbon + string
Pipe cleaners
Other items I like to have on hand that can be found at the grocery store and make for excellent craft supplies are:
Paper plates
Egg cartons
Cardboard pieces
Produce cartons/containers
Milk cartons
