Tips for Messy Eaters & Trying Out Turbo Mops

Thank-you Turbo Mops for partnering on this post and providing Turbo Mops pads to try out. My experience and thoughts on using Turbo Mops pads are my own.

We’ve hit the 6 month mark, which means Luca has officially started solid foods! Yippee! Along with exploring new foods and the cute faces he makes when trying new flavors comes the dreaded mess of a new eater. From juicy watermelon, to sticky baby purees, and nearly every food in between--our kitchen floor becomes an icky mess after every single meal.

A few weeks ago, I discovered Turbo Mops on Amazon. The Swiffer Wet Jet has long been a staple of ours for cleaning our hardwood floors, but I felt like we were going through the disposable replacement pads at an insane speed. They were pricey and after cleaning a single dinner mess from under our table I felt like the pad needed to be tossed. They were becoming a weekly grocery list staple, which I knew was bad for both my wallet and the environment.

When I started reading Amazon reviews on Turbo Mops (does anyone else spend hours doing this late at night?) I knew we had to try the Turbo Mop pads. I can think of very few products that have over 800 five star reviews.

Why the Turbo Mop?

Turbo Mops pads are microfiber reusable pads that are compatible with the Swiffer Wet Jet or other similar mops in lieu of the disposable ones.

Economically, they’re a steal. A set of two Turbo Mop pads is cheaper than 2 boxes of disposable Swiffer pads.

They work better than the disposables in my opinion! The microfiber pad helps absorb so much more liquid rather than spreading it around. We do not have any pets, but I have heard great things about it mopping up animal hair too!

When they start to get icky looking, we toss them in the washing machine and dryer and they come out looking good as new. Supposedly you can wash them up to 100 times!

After cleaning up a juicy watermelon mess today, JD and I both commented about how impressed we’ve been with the Turbo Mop pads.

A few other favorite tips for helping to contain the food mess of a new eater:

  • Buy a highchair that has a removable tray that fits in your dishwasher. It only took us 3 kiddos to finally do this!

  • Eat outside as much as possible. If the weather is nice, we drag the highchair outside for meals so there is less mess to clean up.

  • Use bibs with a food catcher. Sure there are cute fabric bibs out there, but the bibs with the food catcher pocket attached to them help catch some of the mess that would end up on the floor.

  • Invest in an awesome vacuum. Between the Turbo Mop and the Dyson vacuum, I feel like we can finally walk in our kitchen barefoot without feeling like we need to wash our feet. Is that a parenting win or what!?
