Bee Activities for Preschoolers

Thank-you Feed a Bee for sponsoring this post of bee activities for preschoolers.

A silver lining to 2020 has been the extra time I’ve been able to spend with my children. We’ve filled our weeks with fun themes and activities, silly adventures, and learning about different cultures.

This week is a special one -- it’s National Pollinator Week! After spending Spring renovating our backyard and planting flowers and plants together, I thought it would be fun for Brody and Isla to learn about the birds, animals, and insects who help our plants grow.

I’m partnering with Feed a Bee -- an initiative of the Bayer Bee Care Program that helps promote the planting of more pollinators across the country. Since 2015, Feed a Bee has planted over three billion wildflowers across the United States to help feed bees and in turn, helping to grow the food we eat.

Learning about how the bees use plants to help produce food for us has given my kids a new respect and admiration for our little buzzing friends. When we started planting plants in our backyard earlier this Spring, Brody and Isla were both alarmed when they saw a bee. Now they are so curious and interested to see if the bee is collecting nectar.

You know I love a good theme! In celebration of National Pollinator week I’m sharing some fun Bee themed activities from the Feed a Bee initiative.

Additional Fun Preschool Bee Resources:

Here are some of my favorite children’s books about bees and pollinators:

One // The Honeybee by Kristen Hall

Two // The Reason for a Flower by Ruth Heller

Three // The We are the Gardeners by Joanna Gaines

Four // Save the Bees by Bethany Stahl

Five // Flowers are Calling by Rita Gray

This video and song from Feed a Bee is catchy and informative about our flowers feeding bees.

These printable bee worksheets from etsy are perfect for learning about the anatomy of bees and practicing preschool skills.

I’ll be sharing more pollinator friendly activities and resources over on Instagram this week! Be sure to follow along and tag #FeedABee when you try some of the activities at home!
