Isla's Modern Toddler Room Reveal
One of the first things that crossed my mind when we found out we were expecting our third baby was the thought of transitioning Isla into a big girl bed.

As a momma, there is something so bittersweet about your little one transitioning out of their crib. It took me months to feel ready to make the change. Two weeks ago, a wave of pregnancy nesting motivation hit, and we finally did it.
With so many changes coming up in her life, I wanted to keep as much of Isla's room as familiar as possible. She's still so little to me, so a cozy toddler bed seemed like the perfect way to transition. She could sleep on the same mattress she has slept on since birth and her bed would be a similar size to what she was used to. The best part was this super pregnant momma wouldn't have to make any crazy rearrangements to the furniture in her room.
When I spotted the Karla Dubois Bodhi Toddler bed (you may have seen it on our gift guide!), I fell in love. I was finally motivated to make the transition! It was modern, gender neutral and still had a sweet little kid vibe to it. The team at Karla Dubois graciously sent one over to us to try out and you wouldn't believe the excitement on Isla's face when her big girl bed arrived.

She's a creature of habit, so I was expecting the transition to be tough. JD suggested we just go for it. We set up the bed the day it arrived, tucked her in inside her cozy new bed that very same night. And two weeks later, she's slept in it for every nap and bedtime since!
Don't you just love when things go easier than planned? I'm not sure she has realized that she can get out of the bed whenever she wants. When Isla wakes up, she still yells "mommmmy" and waits for us to open her door before getting out of the bed. I'm wondering how long this trend will last :) Maybe until she's 18?! Wishful thinking I know.
One night during the first week, she did manage to roll out of the bed. I was extra grateful for how low to the floor the bed is because it didn't even wake her up.
With this, we've checked off one big to-do on our get-ready-for-baby list! Seeing her so proud of her big girl bed has me feeling confident she's ready for her new role!
