Our Family Trip to Miramar Beach

Since we are traveling to Mexico for the Summer, JD and I weren’t sure a Spring Break trip would be something we could add to our plate this year. My travel-loving heart hated the thought of missing an opportunity to get away and explore somewhere fun with the kids on break. Thankfully, some last-minute plans fell into place when our friends offered us their beach house near Destin for a few days. They recently started to Airbnb it and had a few days available the week that the kids were out of school. How could we say no?!

I had never been to the Florida Panhandle before, but it only took me about 2 seconds to realize why so many families choose it as their beach vacation destination. The sand was soft and white, perfect for sandcastle building. The watercolor was even more beautiful than I could have imagined. We could hardly keep our fearless Luca out of it!

Where We Stayed:

The Miramar Beach Retreat is literal perfection for families. From the moment you walk in the door, you are greeted with the most thoughtful amenities. The drop station by the door was perfect for all of our beach gear and towels to hang and dry each evening.

The house sleeps 14 and had plenty of space for us to spread out. With 4 bedrooms and 4 baths, you could easily fit two families! The kids camped out in the bunk room and JD and I loved sitting on the little porch off of the primary bedroom in the evenings. The garage was stocked full of beach gear, toys, and even bikes!

The neighborhood is super quaint and there was a neighborhood pool that was just a quick 5-minute walk from the house.

They still have a few summer dates left, so if you want to plan a trip you can book it here!

Where We Played:

Our Airbnb was just a 5-minute drive from a beach access point. We would head down there in the morning and spend most of the day playing in the sand and exploring the clear blue water. The beach had lifeguards, easy parking, public bathrooms, and foot wash stations.

One of the days brought some choppy water, so we found the perfect spot at Grayton Beach. It had a bunch of dune lakes where the kids could play in pools of water without actually getting in the Ocean!

We utilized most of the gear from our Airbnb, but the kids loved this ice cream sand toy set I grabbed from the Target dollar spot. I also brought these quick-dry towels from our Magic Playbook Shop, which were perfect.

We spent one of the days driving down the coast discovering all of the little beach towns. Each town is so unique and had so many fun spots to explore. We hit up The Big Chill 30A in Watersound for the afternoon. It was a great spot for the kids to run around and play and there were lots of options for shopping and eating.

Where We Ate:

There is no shortage of delicious food options in 30A! For breakfast, we stopped at Pascalli Kitchen and quickly devoured a box of beignets.

For a post-beach snack, we loved Frozen Dune for a refreshing boba or some rolled ice cream.

We hit up The Crab Trap for dinner one night and it was basically a parent’s dream. The food wasn’t anything to write home about, but it sits right on the beach and has a playground for the kids to play at while you eat.

It’s not lost on me how lucky we are to explore the world with our kids. If you have the opportunity to head down to 30A, I can’t recommend the Miramar Beach Retreat highly enough! It was such a fun vacation and we definitely plan to visit again!
