Setting Up Our At Home Coffee Station
This post is sponsored by Cyetus. All opinions are my own.
This is the year of making our house a home. Of defining the little nooks and crannies to make them special–to make them work for us. If there is one thing we have come to appreciate with the pandemic, it has been the time and memories we have spent together within the four walls of our home.
After the morning chaos of getting our 3 little ones dressed and out of the door, JD and I have started a ritual of a cup of coffee for him and a cup of tea for me before we head down to the basement to work for the day. Those few, uninterrupted minutes have become such a refreshing way to start the day.
As we’ve started to find our groove working together and creating our individual spaces in the basement where we could both be most productive (and listen to our different taste in music :)), we thought setting up a little central space dedicated to our morning drink ritual would be perfect. And that is where the home coffee station plans began brewing.
In December, I surprised JD with a Cyetus All in One Espresso Machine–you should have seen the look on his face! If you know JD, you know he is a coffee aficionado. He’s what you would call a hobbyist—always experimenting with new concoctions and perfecting his lattes.
We had this little awkward wall in the corner of our basement and it was just screaming to become an at home coffee station. We’ve spent the last few weekends working on getting it set up. We’re so excited about how it turned out.
Here is a list of the items we used to set up our coffee station:
Espresso Machine
The Cyetus Espresso Machine is an all in one–meaning the coffee grinder, steam frother and espresso machine are all in the same device. This saves a lot of counter space and has made it easier for JD to learn the tricks to using an espresso machine. He’s getting pretty fancy!
I’m a tea drinker and I love having it handy to warm water for my morning tea (or the kid’s hot chocolate!). The buttons are all touch screen and you can even set up customized settings, so you’re ready with the push of a single button.
Coffee Tools
The Cyetus Espresso Machine includes most of the coffee tools we needed–everything from the tamper to the espresso glasses to the milk frothing pitcher and even an apron came with the machine. We did order a few extra little spoons to have on hand and flavorings to add—vanilla, salted caramel and hazelnut are JD’s favorites. I added pretty labels to them so they can stay sitting on the counter.
Counter Space
For the time being, we set up a table in the space to use as a coffee station. In the near future, we’re planning to make it a little bit more permanent by building a counter with some cabinets and a little beverage fridge underneath. This will give us a spot to store a carafe of water, a carton of milk for coffee and tea and heck, probably some juice boxes, too because #momlife.
Storage
While we await the cabinets, we decide to hang a floating shelf for storage. One shelf was the perfect amount of spaces to hold our essentials. I also love collecting holiday mugs, so it will be fun to have a spot to display them as the seasons change.
Drinkware
As a hobbyist, JD loves making and trying every concoction possible– from a shot of espresso to an iced coffee. This means we needed a little variety in the drinkware for our coffee station. From espresso cups (the Cyetus Espress Machine came with these!), to coffee mugs, to glassware–we’re ready for anything you can dream up.
Tea (for me :))
While the coffee beans are stored in the grinder attached to the Cyetus Espresso Machine, my tea is stored in little tins on the shelf above.
With a home that often feels run over with things for the kids, it feels special to have this space just for JD and I.
