Isla's Pink & Gold Nursery Reveal

It has been almost a year to the day that we found out we were expecting another little one. This means it has also been almost a year since I started dreaming up plans for a pink and gold nursery if we were blessed with a little girl. It may have taken us just a little bit longer than planned to finish Isla's special space. But hey, 3 months late is better than never, right?

When we officially found out we were expecting a little girl, it seemed so foreign to me to be able to use pinks and feminine details. But the moment I came across the beautiful Swan Lake Mobile, I knew it would be the perfect inspiration for her room. A calm space that would allow her imagination to flourish.

We kept the same layout as we had used in Brody's nursery. The reading corner stayed in place with the acrylic shelves holding some of our favorite books. We added a set of animal heads to make the corner a bit more playful and a sheer curtain that filters in the dreamiest light in the mornings. We also kept the mirror behind the crib. The original bold black frame was a bit too dramatic, so we spray painted the frame a soft gold. I have so many memories of Brody waking up in his crib and making faces at himself in the mirror--I can't wait to watch Isla do the same.

One of the hardest nursery pieces to find was the perfect rug. I searched high and low for a rug that would be a statement piece without being too busy or patterned. When I came across the Pehr Designs Pom Pom rug, I fell in love. The subtle pom poms adorn the white rug and add just the right amount of texture to her room. I can imagine Isla twirling across the rug in a frilly tutu when she is older.

Another favorite piece is the abstract canvas that artist Anna Swanson from Demi and Olive custom created for Isla's room. I am obsessed with her art and feel so honored to have a piece of it hanging on Isla's walls. It is the perfect pop of color and ties in the blues and teals that we wanted to incorporate into her room. I also love that the art work has a cactus vibe to it--the perfect tribute to our little desert home.

Between her dreamy closet, the playful animal details, and the sentimental touches--Isla's room is officially my favorite space in the home. I hope it is a space that will inspire her to daydream, create, and let her imagination flourish.

Here's a little look at the inspiration design board I used for her nursery.
