Top Baby Essentials: My Must Have Gear for Baby #3

Baby gear the 3rd time around is a delicate balance of things I know I love and a few sweet cutesy splurges to make this baby boy's arrival extra special.

We kept many things between kiddos, but also pared down quite a bit when we moved across the country last year. When we found out we were expecting baby #3, I was giddy to be able to shop for baby gear one more time.

Today, I thought it would be fun to share the new products we will be using for baby #3, along with some tried and true favorites we cannot wait to use again. If you’ve seen my recent Instagram stories, you know I’ve slowly started gathering some new products. Each time something small and cute arrives in the mail, I get a little more excited for the arrival of our sweet baby boy.

You might remember I rounded up the baby gear for first time parents, for the 2nd time around and now here I am sharing my favorites as a soon to be mom of three.

My Favorite Baby Items of 2019

Carseat Cover // Cold and Flu season + 2 kiddos in preschool has me all sorts of worried about germs for our newborn already. I love the boy-ish print on this carseat cover and that it will hopefully keep strangers from getting too close to our little guy in public. It also doubles as a great nursing cover and grocery cart cover!

Pacifier Clip // I am a big fan of these silicone pacifier clips from Louloulollipop. We use them for pacifiers and teether/toys on the stroller.

Stroller + Carseat // When Isla arrived we made it work without a double stroller, but when we found out we were expecting #3, we knew we were going to need that option. We are going to try out the Maxi Cosi Lila stroller system and I am really excited for it. We've used Maxi-Cosi carseats since Brody was a newborn and have really loved the brand, so this has me excited to try the stroller. It comes with all of the bells and whistles that you usually have to buy separately with strollers. Plus there's a crazy awesome Maxi-Cosi sale going on through September 30th, where you get a FREE Maxi-Cosi Mico Max infant carseat when you buy the stroller. It saves you over $200!

Sound Machine // A sound machine is one must-have item for a newborn. We've tried many sound machines, but the portable Rohm one is by far my favorite. The sounds can be very loud, which will come in handy when we are trying to drown out the noise from 2 preschoolers while our newborn sleeps. It's also the perfect size for travel.

Knotted Swaddle // These swaddles are a favorite of moms in our Momma Society community. I haven't used them before, but so many of you swear by them for easy diaper changes and comfy newborn loungewear. These ones are made by Solly Baby--a brand I adore--and they are just as buttery soft as the Solly Baby wraps.

Bathtub // Another item that didn't make our cross country move was our infant bathtub. When I spotted the grey Skiphop whale one, I knew it would be perfect. It is ergonomic and has 3 different stages to last through the first 6+ months.

Bottles // Baby bottles are an item I never seem to keep between babies. Refreshing our stock of Comotomo bottles so this momma can have a few date nights!

Teether // I can't resist louloulollipop teethers. This little llama is just perfect for a boy or girl.

Sherpa Pram Cover // This little one will be our first Winter baby! I am excited for all of the snuggly clothes--especially this sherpa bear suit. These are great to zip little ones in when you go out for stroller walks.

Diaper Bag // With 3 kids, I have a feeling I will be needing all of the organization in the world. I love that this diaper bag can be worn as a bag or backpack. Best of all it comes with and incredible removable pocket organizer for #allthethings. Sale Alert! It's 30% off today!

Pacifiers // These are another practical item on every baby registry. I love the color and look of the BIBS pacifiers. Can't wait to try them out.

Layette Sets // Little newborn outfits will forever steal my heart. Although we have quite a few hand-me-downs from Brody and Isla, I couldn't resist a couple of new pieces for this little one. This quilted layette set and this dotted layette set are classic pieces from one of my favorite newborn brands.

Crib Sheet // We still have a few sheets from Brody and Isla's nursery to pass down to this little one, but I also wanted to be sure he had his own new sheet. I love the simple grey stripes on this Copper Pearl street

Mobile // Brody and Isla both have a special mobile from their nursery packed away in their memory boxes. I'm looking forward to doing the same with baby #3. I love the modern look of this mobile since his nursery will be a combination guest room/ nursery.

Swaddle // Most of the swaddles I kept are fun floral print ones. I wanted to add one or two to the collection that are a bit more masculine/gender neutral. I love the colors in this striped one from Copper Pearl. The stretchy smooth material theirs are made out of make for the best swaddling.

Activity Center // Baby's first christmas gift is going to be this SkipHop activity center! Somehow our previous activity center didn't make the move. I love the look of this one and the versatility of it changing into a little table afterwards.

Baby Book // I've tested out many baby books over the years and this one is still my very favorite. I love that it is easy to keep up with and beautifully designed.

Lovey // Brody sleeps with a puppy dog from Ikea every night and Isla sleeps with one of these Slumberkins Loveys every night. I love that they come with a sweet board book and they are so soft and cuddly. On my list for baby #3 for sure!

Sleep Sack // These ergopouch sleepers are one of my go-to gifts for my Birth Prep mommas and a sleep tool I swear by! Isla slept in these for at least her first 6 months. I love that they a 2 way zipper for easy diaper changes and the arms can be in or out of the sleeper.

My Tried and True Favorites: Brody and Isla’s Baby Gear

Babyletto crib // The backdrop for all my Instagram selfies. I love this gender neutral, modern crib. It’s held up through two kiddos and fits perfectly in my nursery design for baby #3.

Baby Bjorn Bassinet // I love how modern this bassinet looks + it's super functional. It's very lightweight and the sides are mesh, which allows for alot of airflow. Alot of the moms in our Momma Society Facebook Group love this one as well.

Nook Crib Mattress // We bought this mattress for Brody and love it. Perfect balance of firm yet breathable.

Owlet Baby Monitor // Third time mom and I still get nervous about those newborn nights. The owlet gives me peace of mind plus some much needed sleep! You can read my full review of the owlet here!

Hatch Changing Pad // We love this smart changing pad. It is so easy to clean, which is a major plus with baby boys.

Ubbi Diaper Pail // All the style with none of the stink. This is a must have!

DockATot // I love the flexibility of having a safe space for my baby anywhere in the house. The Dock A Tot lets me keep them close while i’m working on Momma Society or watching their siblings play downstairs or outside.

Solly Baby Wrap // You all know this is my ride or die. Check out my tutorial on how to use the Solly wrap over on my Instagram highlights.

Lillebaby Airflow Carrier // We used this when traveling in France with Brody and I fell in love! It’s more structured than a wrap and the mesh exterior is super breathable, allowing for great airflow. It also has a hood that can be used as a sun cover.
