A Day In The Life Of The Founders of Pehr Designs + A Giveaway!
When it comes to balancing motherhood and big dreams, Jen Kelly & Becca Perren knock it out of the park. These two creative mommas have been friends for over 30 years and now run the hugely popular lifestyle brand, Pehr, together. The heart and passion they pour into both their business and their families is so evident. I am thrilled to be sharing a day in the life of this unstoppable duo--as if we needed another reason to love Pehr even more, Jen & Becca are surely it!
By The Numbers
The Daily Grind
8:45 am: School drop off! School doesn’t start until 9am so we both get kids off to school and head to the office. The office is pretty much in between our homes, so it makes for an easy commute and get home quickly when needed!
9:10 am: Pull out our laptops at get set up for the day. Our desks face each other. We probably have the room to be separate spaces but it makes for easy communication and we prefer it that way.
9:30 am: Spend the hour or so catching up on emails. Most of Becca’s contacts on the product development side are in India. So she gets all of her responses in the morning.
11:00 am: Jen has a call with our US National Sales Manager to talk about an upcoming trade show. No matter how many times we do it, there are always so many logistics and decisions!
Noon: It’s a rare day that we both make it until noon to eat lunch. We’re generally eating by 11:30am, but today we head across the street from the office to a great café and grab avocado egg sandwiches and kale caesar salads.
12:45 pm: Product Development meeting. We sit down with Melanie our head designer to discuss our new toddler bedding collection. We’re finalizing the tech packs that will go off to our factory so that we can start seeing samples. We’re launching this collection in the Summer, so we’re eager to keep moving on it.
2:00 pm: Off to a meeting downtown with one of our largest Canadian retailers. We’re presenting some exclusive prints for their Fall collection, so no peeking!
4:00 pm: Back at the office. The final push before we need to pick up kids, head home and relieve nannys for the little ones.
5:30 pm: We’re both back to our homes with the kids . . . our evening routines begin. Dinner, bath, books and bedtime.
8:30 pm: Both sets of kids are down and we’re back online. Tonight is just to finalize details for our upcoming trip to India in the spring and finish up some emails coming out of our latest trade-show.
