A Day In The Life of Kaycee Sogard

Kaycee Sogard, Momma to Saydee (age 2) and little Knix (almost 2 months), knows a thing or two about juggling whatever life throws your way (quite literally). As a baseball wife to Oakland A's 2nd Baseman, Eric Sogard, Kaycee makes the hectic schedules and traveling look easy. She's one of those mommas that you just want in your momma tribe. The perfect mix of spunky and graceful. I'm hoping that by sharing a day in Kaycee's life, a little bit of her relaxed demeanor, sense of humor, and positive vibes can rub off on all of us!

By The Numbers

The Daily Grind

9:00 am: Wake up.

9:10 am: Knix is crying. I roll out of bed to go feed him. He’s actually a pretty good sleeper for being only a month old *knocking on wood right this very second*

9:45 am: Change clothes. The baby’s clothes, not mine. And only because he spit up on himself. Today is a pjs all day kind of day.

10:00 am: I head downstairs and thank my husband for making breakfast and letting me sleep. He’s good like that. Saydee’s in her high chair watching Dora and eating some delicioso waffles. I pop my omelet in the microwave and squirt some ketchup on my plate.

11:30 am: I throw some laundry down the chute, only to realize that yesterdays load is still in the washer. I turn the knob to “quick wash” and hope it doesn’t smell moldy when it’s done.

2:00 pm: Say and I head upstairs to get “baby bro” ready for a nap. She makes sure he has plenty of toys to play with while he’s napping. I secretly take them all out while she’s not looking. She’s turning into a great big sister…now that she acknowledges his presence.

3:00 pm: Another load of laundry is done so I grab it and take it upstairs. Eric slaps my butt as I’m grabbing it out of the dryer. I love him. I resist the urge to curl up in the pile of warm clothes.

3:30 pm: I go to grab Saydee to put her down for a nap and find her trying to climb into the dryer. I pull her out of the dryer without even acknowledging the fact that she was just trying to climb into the dryer. Everyone’s kids do that, right?

4:00 pm: Again, time for Saydee to take a nap. She runs into the playroom and wants to read books instead. Nap time can wait.

6:30 pm: We try some weird edamame pasta from Costco for dinner. It’s actually really good, and really good for you. I ask Eric if that balances out the 10 pieces of leftover Halloween candy I ate earlier. He says no.

8:30 pm: I throw both kids in the bath. Saydee dumps a full cup of water directly onto Knix’s head. He blinks to get the water out of his eyes, but doesn’t make a peep. Get used to it bud.

10:00 pm: Bedtime for both kids. We’re on “baseball schedule” around here, so we go to bed late and wake up late, but I don’t hate it.

10:05 pm: We say our family prayers, and then divide and conquer. Eric puts Saydee down, and I handle the little guy.

10:15 pm: The kids are down and Eric and I cuddle on the couch, watch a few episodes of Family Feud, and eat what’s left of our Ben & Jerry’s from the freezer.
